Appropriate Length of Time for Chapter 7 BankrupctyWhat is the name of your state? My state is Texas.... What is the appropriate length of time for credit reports to show Chapter 7 Bankrupcty? I was thinking that Chapter 7 Bankrupcty should be reported for 7 years and dropped off afterwards? ![]() |

| I actually checked my credit report a few weeks before I was set to discharge and found that most of my debts already showed "charge-off Ch. 7" or similar wording. I recently checked it again, and I think it was Experian (I may be wrong) that stated when each particular item would go off of my credit report. One of them was as soon as two years while others were longer. I didn't take an exact note of it-but I got it through www.annualcreditreport.com |

| Any debts that were delinquent BEFORE you filed for BK will drop off in their normal time frame - 7-1/2 years from the date of first delinquency that immediately preceeded placement for collections or charge-off. The bankruptcy itself will stay for 10 years, all the individual tradelines only the normal reporting period.
