Bankruptcy on Credit Report

What is the name of your state? MO

How long does Chapter 7 stay on your credit report and is there a way to lessen the damage it makes on your report? I was forced into a Chapter 7 during my divorce in 2000 and it is affecting my credit in every way. I am planning to remarry this year and would like to have a clean slate.

Is there anything I can do?

**A: did you file BK jointly or did only your spouse file? When was the BK discharged?

My ex spouse was going to file separately but since he was for sure going to do it, I decided to just go in and file jointly to eliminate extra costs.

Bankruptcy was filed October 1999 and discharged Jan 2000
