Bankruptcy Filing If Own a House JointlyWhat is the name of your state? NY My mother owes a large amount on a credit card and wants to file bankruptcy. She is a joint owner on a home with my father. She does not work. My father is on SSI and Welfare. Can she alone file bankruptcy? would it effect the house? |

| Yes, she alone can file for bankruptcy. Whether or not her house would be in danger depends on the amount of equity they have in it. How much debt does she have ?? Surely its more than 1 card ??
