bankruptcy and marriageWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NJ I'm getting married in a little less than 2 months from now. My fiancee is considering filing for bankruptcy. How long does the process take if she files now? Will it be cleared up by the wedding? Is it better to wait until after we are married for her to file? | No one can guess how long it will take for her to complete the paperwork or what the courts docket backlog might be. Talk with a good local bankruptcy attorney who can answer your questions on your specifics.
__________________ There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) pending in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution). Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport! |

| Just to add one thought to Jetx's comment. She needs to run this by her lawyer to see if adding your income {it'll need to be disclosed} will affect the means test and her disposable income numbers. |

| I really appreciate both answers - pretty much what I expected but I figured I'd ask anyway. I'm guessing she (we) waited too long to really address this problem. The wedding date has been set for a year now. I've been aware of her financial problems for longer than that. Ahh, can't help who you fall in love can you? Anyway, I called my lawyer and he recommended a really good bankruptcy attorney so thats our next step. Once again, Thanks. |
