bankruptcy questionsWhat is the name of your state? Kansas We are approximatly $20,000 in unsecured card debt and hospital bills. I recently lost my job and had to take a job with a drastic pay cut. Now we barely bring home $2000 a month. We are wanting to declare bankruptcy on the credit card and hospital bills, while maintaining our current monthly house payment ($600) and car payment ($400). We have no money left in savings or any liquid assests that can be taken into consideration. What are our options and do you have any advice as to what might be our best solution? |

| Yes, you can file for BK and have all those unsecured debts discharged. You reaffirm on your house and your car as long as you're current on both and you get to keep them both. The exemptions for KS are here: http://www.thebankruptcysite.com/exemptions/kansas.htm Looks like there is a full homestead exemption in Kansas.. so your home is safe anyway.
