| | | Can an American attorney help his client file for bankruptcy? What is the name of your state? Canada
I'm a Canadian lawyer, so I don't know much about your system, but it looks as though American attorneys can help their clients file for bankruptcy. In Canada, only certified trustees can do that, and they're typically accountants.
Can an American attorney be the equivalent of a Canadian trustee in bankruptcy? |

| | | Interesting. Thanks for the info, sir/madam.
But many trustees in Canada deal with a person's finances, which lawyers are not trained to do. What's the situation for American attorney's who have to budget for their clients? |

Now any American attorney can represent a client in BK Court and some states in America go so far as to allow a non attorney to assist in helping a client fill out the petition. |

Many times advice is given if needed, but it is not required. | |
