Can creditor still collect after I file bankruptcy?

I filed for bankruptcy on May 11th and then I see that a creditor captured a large sum of money from my bank account on May 15th. I called the creditor and was told that they checked to see if I filed for bankruptcy before they collected the money and nothing was filed. I know this is not true because I called the bankrupcty court and checked. I faxed the creditor over my case number and everything. Now I'm being told that they sent all of this information over to their lawyer to handle. My question is...can the creditor do this? Will I be able to get that money back?

Yes, they'll have to give it back. You're protected by the automatic stay the moment you filed the bk.
