Ch 7 asset BK, how long till case is closed?

What is the name of your state?TX

We filed Dec. 31, 2004. Most recent activity was Nov. 7, 2005 when trustee got approval from court to pay himself. Nothing new since then. Is everything at the trustees discretion as far as when he gets around to doing things? In our case paying the creditors is the last big step before the case can be closed. Are there timelines for things happening or can this drag on indefinitely? We got our non-exempt assets to him within a month of the 341 meeting, would have been quicker but we could not get him to respond to our questions about how to turn stuff over. I've thought about contacting his office and asking what's up with our case but I figure he's got hundreds of cases to deal with and I'd just be acting like a pain in the tush.
