Chapte 7

What is the name of your state? Georgia

I need something cleared up. I have heard that with a 7, I will still be responsible for the last 6 months / a year of credit card charges. Today, I was told by a lawyer the last 60 days. I give up what is the correct answer????????
To add, No I had no clue that I was going to do a Chapter 7 until after my divorce this past tuesday. I accepted the house as part of the agreement, but got another offer to stay elsewhere for a fraction of what my house payments are. I will be accepting the lesser of the two, so the house which is secured which will be given up in turn making the note unsecured. So, I will add the couple of credit cards i have to it.

Divorced tuesday.
Laid off April 19th
Why not add a log to the anguish and start completely over.

In general, they tell you to stop using cards for 90 days before filing, as you could be stuck still paying those charges. Cash advances can be looked at for up to a year prior, a lot depends on what you used the money for there.

Whoever told you you'd be liable for 6-12 months is basically incorrect, 90 days seems to be the norm.

For LadynRed

Your comments about the 2nd auto was right on track. If I would have filed Chap 7 before tuesday the 25th the day she accepted the divorce agreements she would have lost the car.

Thanks for info on Chap 7 credit cards.

Lawyer did an excellent job in my divorce case, She wanted everything but didn't get it. She left court house very downbeat.
My lawyer and investigator did a great job, if anyone in in the forum is in or around the augusta, ga area and needs either one of these services feel free to ask and i can help.
