Chapter 7What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? VA Have 19 year old daughter who lives at home, has medical bills of her own after turning 18 She is going to school for here GED. Can I write off her debt along with a Chapter 7 filing for me and my husband? Son, who is 14 has resitution to pay in the court system here would that also be able to be included and discharged with our Chapter 7? |

| Unless you guaranteed the medical debt or, state law makes you liable for medical debts incurred by a minor, you want be able to discharge it. Even if you discharge your liability, it won't affect her liability to pay. Generally, debts involving fines and court cost can't be discharged.
