Question

chapter 7 bankruptcy exemptions


What is the name of your state? ohio

hi, new here....hoping someone could help me with finding a way to keep my car & file chapter 7.

Have you read any of the FAQ's on this site ?? They answer a lot of questions. If you take some time to read past posts here, you'd also see that your answer is already here.

If the car is financed, you can reaffirm and keep paying. OR, you can include the loan, have it discharged and STILL keep paying and keep the car.

If the car is paid off, and the value is above your states exemption limits, you're likely to lose it.

ohio exemptions vs. federal exemptions


yes i did read faqs....what i was wondering was if you must go by state exemptions or can somehow go by federal? my car is not worth much, just paid it off a couple months ago, but i do not have the money to buy it back from trustee plus a lein against it from lawyer (deal he mentioned to me in free consult.) i have three children, oldest is autistic & medicaid does not provide for most of his treatment so i'm just barely getting by w/ the help of his ssi & would be disastrous to lose my transportation...doctor appts, therapy, not to mention my job. any ideas?

Federal exemptions are NOT available in Ohio. Here are your exemptions:
