chapter 7 questionWhat is the name of your state?new york i filed chapter 7 ,in feb05 i went to the hearing i was told i would recieve discharge paper in 30 days have not heared anything yet, if i ever get my life together and back on my feet,how long before i can buy something like land or a small house , does it take a few years before i can ,because i did file bancruptcy ![]() |

| It is unusuall to receive discharge within 30 days. You must have misheard or they must have made a mistake. It usually takes up to 60 days or longer. after your discharge you can try to aquire property but you probably won't find someone willing to give you a loan so soon after bankruptcy. usually you can get a home after 2 years if you work on your credit score.
