Depending on whether or not the car is a lease and which car company it is through, that will determine whether or not you can keep the car. Your mother is considered a co-debtor. You must include your car in your liabilities on your petition because that will change the category of money you owe versus your assets.
Most likely, if the car is a retail (purchased as opposed to lease), the creditor will work with you to bring the payments current, or you may have to turn the car over. Each creditor should be able to work out it's own deal with your attorney. If you do not have one, get one. It will make a fair difference in the outcome of your case.
