My girlfriend has about $45,000 in credit card debt, all of it in her name.

She charged about $10,000 herself and basically got conned into loaning two two other individuals the rest. One of these guys got kicked out of the US, the other moved to Canada, but at least until last December did continue to help her make minimum payments for about 3 years.

Due to unemployment and the interest and fees piling up, she has no other option now but to file.

My question is whether the full $45,000 would be discharged, or rather under what if any circumstances would the full $45,000 not be discharged?

Does the fact that she got conned have any bearing whatsoever on her case?

And since she has no job and no assets and this is otherwise a very straightforward case, would you recommend an attornee or not?

Yes, she should use an attorney.
I doubt she'll have any problems. She is the one responsible for the debt. It does not matter how she spend the money.
