bankruptcy quandries... PLEASE help me

meWhat is the name of your state? OH
Chapter 7 bankruptcy seemed to be my only option as my debts were in excess of 20000. I started the initail filings with a law office. So far I have payed them 400 of the necessary 900 that they charge. My lawyer advised me to file chapter 7. However, my mom would like to see me pay back my creditors. I however, no longer possess their contact info, and due to the fact that I am studying abroad, am at a loss for a means to obtain their contact info. Any Suggestions???
Also, I Have payed back a fair amount of my creditors. However, after recently obtaining my credit report; I found out about thiings I didnt even know existed. Obviously, I am going to try and dispute those, and also negotiate with my creditors, but like I just said, am unable to get in contact with them as of yet... Does anyone know how to find creditors contact info????

If I do file, my concerns are how long I will have to postpone my studies, and what the ramifactions will be. I know I will have to pay off the lawyer, file my suit then have the creditor meeting.... all of which I was told takes 6weeks. Is that true, and is there any way to expedite this process, or complete certain parts of it while I am abroad??

There is also one last bit of info that kind of complicates things...
I was born in another country which is where most of my family resides. I am a US citizen though. I recently found out that when I am older (in a few years time...) there might or might not be a little bit of money that was left for me. How much I know not, nor do I know if it will affect my filing a chapter 7. However, I heard that inheritances are subjected to be handled differently. I dont know how long, it will take to find out if,what, and how much I may have. Also since it is from another country, is it even subject to US jurisdiction, +/or relevant to a US filing.

I would like to avoid filing , but if I do have to file, obviously would like to know what the stipulations are.
Whomever reads this, thank you sincerely for you time. Your advice is much appreciated...
With kind regards, Fanni9@hotmail.com
