What is the name of your state?Oklahoma. I filed chapter 7 and included a vehicle that I had purchased a year earlier. My lawyer advised that the lein holder (bank) would contact me after the court hearing and arrange for me to drop it off or they would pick it up. A month went by and I contacted the bank. They said that they did not have paperwork on it and would get back to me. 2 months went by and I called the bank again. I found out that the original bank was purchased by another bank. I contacted the new bank and they said that they did not have a record of my vehicle but that they would contact me when they complete the merger.. I tried several more times to find out what I need to do, and each time was told that they would look into it... well, 8 years later, i still have the vehicle. I drive it every day, register it every year etc.. there is a lien on the title per the DMV. My question is, what are my obligations on this? Is there an SOL for this situation? It does not show on my credit report. Can I get the lien removed?, how? any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. I no longer want the vehicle. Oh ya, my lawyer at the time is no longer in practice..?
