Question

i recently purchased some items from cyberrebates.com. I sent in the rebate forms, the company said they received them and my rebate would be mailed out shortly. Today they filed chapter 11. Must I still pay this credit card charge? I obviously can't even returnthe items since they are no longer in business.

I am in FL, they are in NY

Cyberrebate.com

Hi. I'm dealing with the same dilemma with Cyberrebate.com except I have three orders pending (credit card bills already paid) and rebate status "received". Do you have any more insight as to what our rights are as consumers? I will definitely be pursuing this matter legally and am hoping to reach as many consumers as possible to get a better feel for what we should expect. Feel free to e-mail me at twu@jhmi.edu to chat about this. Thanks!

Cyberrebate.com

I live in Florida and have the same problems with CyberRebate. I am out nearly $30,000. I don't have any copies of the receipts because I sent them all in to get the rebates and if I needed more copies, I knew that I could go onto the site and print them out. However, since the site has closed down, I cannot access those pages to print out receipt copies. Also, the last time I checked when they were open, some of my rebate within the same order were processed while others were not. This had been going on for several weeks. Also, some of the devices that I returned to CyberRebate were not acknowledged as having been recieved so I assume that they are unfairly holding me accountable for those too. I will return the goods, I just want my money back! How do I do this when I don't have the receipts?! If you have any advice, please email me at Bagelah@aol.com.

cyberrebate vengence

Hey guys-looks like we're all in the same boat--I am also owed several thousand dollars by these guys--however I REALLY feel sorry for you all with the huge debts. OUCH! I'm with you guys--there's got to be a way to get it back. I also just recieved an order from them only yesterday--I had time to get everything printed out, but now I don't even know if I should send them in!!?? As I understand it, Chapter 11 is a restructuring type of bankruptcy which allows business operation under scrutiny during reorganization. What this means, I don't know--but I think it's a sign that there's hope and they're not just doing it to weasel out of paying everybody. I suspicioned something was up when my checks did not show up on time and I'm still waiting for the May 1 ones. A CR Rep e-mailed me and said they would be going out with the next batch of checks in a couple of weeks. Whether I believe that now or not I don't know. Anybody who would like to discuss anything about this situation may e-mail me at wcihays@aol.com. I'd love to know what people are finding out about this and what we can do.

I am in this with all of you--I am waiting on $21,000. The difference is, I got my mom hooked on the site, and she is waiting on $31,000. I had been going to the site for over a year. I began experiencing problems in March and stopped ordering. However, as I said, I am still waiting on $21,000. I've sent e-mails to a few lawyers for free legal advice, and one of them said to "wait to hear from bankruptcy court". The other one said to get on with my life. Personally, I didn't like either response. If any of you receives a better response, please let me know. My e-mail address is rdesa1021@cs.com. If I hear anything else, I will do the same.

cyberrebate.scam

i was dooped also..i was completely mortified to see that page yesterday when i was happily trying to "check my status"..i'm in the hole for $6,000 which i thought was horrific, but i also see that there are a few of you that are in deeper pooh than me...i cannot allow these people to get me for $6,000 of stuff that would normally cost me a 1/10th of that in retal stores...i am completely OUTRAGED at this situation and hope that we as a whole can come to a good conclusion to this hoax..please e-mail me with your thoughts and any updates as i will do the same...."THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS"!!!!!!!

cyberrebate scam

I also have charged $37,000.00 at CyberRebate.Com since 12/00
I just put in $10,000.00 worth of checks on5/15/01. My bank says that they cleared Thank God , but I am still out $18,000.00. I feel bad for all of us . Our " NO FEAR REBATE GUARANTEE" has turned into my worst nightmare. I would like to keep in touch with everyone. Should we all get separate lawyers or is this a class action suit?
This was definately a scam and they got me

CyberRebate Victim

I too am a victim of CyberRebate. They owe me over $8,000. I used three different credit cards. MBNA America said they will not do anything unless I did not receive the merchandise. They say I agreed to the purchase price. NextCard sounded a little more corporative, and are sending a dispute form. Discover Card I do not know yet, it is in my husband name and they would not speak to me about it. I tried to call CyberRebate's customer service but all I got was a busy signal, and they have not answered my email. Anyone with any information please contact me, I will be happy to share any information I come up with.

I suggest contacting the Better Business BUreau in your district as the first stop. Many attorney at http://www.attorneypages.com offer free consultations. Try that, as well.

You may want to consider these items a big loss and perhaps a tax deduction (????). Otherwise, there will be no way to recoup cash.
