| I'm considering bankruptcy! To start, I attended college hoping to become a doctor. Unfortunately, it never panned out. I'm $65,000 in debt with college loans. Not only this, but I'm recently un-employed and have $16,000 worth of credit card debt. I recently married and my husband bought that house beforehand. My concerns are will his credit be affected if I claim bankruptcy? Will we have to give up the house? I live in Kentucky and desperately seeking advice. Please advice. Sincerely, Robi |

| You need a lawyer badly. First of all, student loans are almost impossible to discharge in bankruptcy. The standard for undue hardship is very high. Also, some states are known as " community credit" meaning you may not be able to file bk without your husband. Also, is the home in both of your names? I think with all you have going on, it is beyond the scope of a message board. Most lawyers give free initial consultations. |

houseHi, I'm not an expert but I think that if you file singly for BK and your house is in your husbands name, the house should be okay. I agree with the gentleman, you should talk to a lawyer, chin up, it may not be that bad. Good Luck |
