Cosigned for ex-boyfriend

I cosigned on a credit card for my boyfriend after he made it seem the credit card was for both of us. I never used the card or even received my own card for the account. I asked him to take me off the account various times and he never did. The account was closed by the creditor because he was late on some payments. He is now paying on time but the account is still closed and my name is still on it. I am afraid that he will default and I will be liable for this credit card. Is there anything I can do?

Write to the credit card company to see if you can be released. Be prepared if they say NO.
