credit debt /harrasment in FLORIDA

I recieved a credit card(visa)before I was married. My husband is not on the account which is now in collection.When I got home today A neighbor (I don't even know her name)came to the door with a message for me from a TX collecton agency. They called her! I was yelled at by the women I was speeking with so I spoke with her manager that didn't even say anything about that part. He then informed me that if I do not pay him $2000 by 12 tomorrow he would have my husbands cards stopped (not even visa cards)and his pay garnished. I saw the web address to see my rights and I filled out a complaint. Can he follow up on any of these threats or is he just blowing smoke? Also how can they contact my neighbors wether I know them or not?This is in FLORIDA.
