Deadline Approaching

What is the name of your state? I may not be in the correct area but this was the best thing I could find for my topic. I live in Texas. I worked for an international consulting firm in IT Support. They filed CH11 a couple of days after they let me go. I received documentation from the company that I was entitled to 3wks severance plus expensise on my corporate account but that they could not pay me since they filed. The company was bought out and I recently received a claim form for how much I was entitled. I filled out the form and submitted it and a couple of days later I received a check in the amount of my expenses (couple hundred bucks). I find it odd that they waited 6 months to reimburse me. I'm wondering if I cash the check if this might be a legal tactic to dismiss my claim for staiting an inacurate amount of how much I am do. Should I cash the check and re-submit my claim, or hold on to the check and wait for the courts decision? The check is only good for 60days and the dead line to file is next week (July 8th).

Under a Chapter 11, salaries owed to employees are 3rd on the list of who gets paid what, so it could be even longer before you finally get the wages owed to you.

my lawyer told me in Texas its a misconception that if somone owes you 600.00 and writes you a check for 100.00 its not a sign of the balance paid in full if you cash the check************** hope that applies to your case as well...... and as far as the check only being good for 60 days, I also think thats a misconception.... I have heard of checks being cashed for a year later and still passing... but I will research that for you in banking laws...... .....
