When a person passes away and has credit card debt, is this paid off from their estate - and what is done if there is not enough to pay it off?

My response:

Yes, the Estate is responsible. You, or the executor of the estate, must notify all creditors so that they may make their claims against the estate. If the estate does not have the money to pay, then ask your Probate attorney how to file for Bankruptcy on behalf of the estate.
