Discharge of Interest in BankruptcyWhat is the name of your state? California I filed a Bankruptcy in 1997 that included child support arrearages. While it appears that child support itself may not be discharged, what about all the interest? I see nothing in the bankruptcy code that prevents me from discharging the interest. Any thoughts? ![]() |

| Child support is NEVER discharged.. you're stuck with honoring your obligation. Since the interest arises from your child support debt, I can only assume that it is not dischargeable either.
