| Yes, creditors are able to post discharged matters to your credit report, but they have to note that it was 'discharged in bankruptcy' on the report. I'm not sure how long they stay on the report. I was discharged from a Ch. 7 in early 2003. Some of the creditors I listed in my petition have since been removed from my reports, but they were scheduled to be removed during that time anyway (even if I hadn't claimed bk). The Credit Reporting companies can tell you how long they can remain - they should know. Also, if you had an attorney when you filed your bankruptcy, he/she should also know. I'd keep an eye on the credit reports over the next few years though, as some creditors continue to post the debt beyond the limitations and it's unfortunately up to you to get the CR agencies to remove it.
