Discharging a joint debt if i am no longer married to that person

What is the name of your state? Florida

I have a bill which was joint that I wish to discharge...

I am a divorced man, however the bill is in both of our names

my ex will not file bankruptcy along with me.

can i just file that particular debt as single

Yes, you can file on the debt yourself. Your obligation to repay the debt will be gone, but your ex will still be responsible for paying the bill.
