Do you get to keep your homestead exemtion if your property gets sold?

What is the name of your state? NC

In NC the homestead exemption is $20 K for a married couple. If you give up your home in bankruptcy, do you still get the $20 K after it is sold?

If you give up the home to the bank in a foreclosure, you don't get anything as far as I know. The exemption is pretty much intended for you to be able to keep the house.
