Yes, a Home Equity Line of Credit is available 8 months after a chapter 7 is discharged. Home loans are also available the day after a chapter 7 or 13 bankruptcy has been discharged. You'll probably pay higher interest rates and loan fees because the loan was obtained so soon after the discharge. Home loans are also available for folks who are currently participating in a chapter 13 program. With the Trustee's permission, the loans enable the chapter 13 participant to purchase a home or refinance their existing home. Most folks opt for refinancing their existing home and pulling out additional cash so they can payoff their chapter 13 early.
