filing a chp7 bankruptcy?

Home state: New Jersey>. I have 2 cars repo within the past 7 yrs. The 1st one sued for what is call a differencial. amount: 7,439.
The 1st repo obtained a judgement and froze one of my bank accounts. What's next?
Will the sheriff seize the account? and when? Amount on account around 1,600 dollars. Lucky Bstrs!
My plans is to go chp7 bankruptcy as soon as possible. Estimated amount of bankruptcy is around $20,000. I'm thinking about doing this on my own. Wise? I'm doing research on chp7 bankruptcies for the state of NJ. Any ideas will be greatly apreciated.

It's arleady been siezed if the account is frozen. Say goodbye to whatever money you had in that account - and don't put anything more IN that account or you can kiss that goodbye too.

Doable, but wise ?? Probably not. Bankruptcy is very complicated and you'd be much better off finding a lawyer. Most will take payments for their fee. You should go for 2 or 3 consultations to find out what it'll cost and what you'll be looking at. Just make sure that it includes having the judgment vacated after your BK is discharged.

But bear in mind that a lawyer will probably not file a ch. 7 case until their entire fee is paid. This is because the promise to pay a fee in the future is itself a dischargeable debt. Furthermore, a debtor is not allowed to pay the case filing fee in instalments if the attorney has gotten a fee. This means that there may be a significant delay before a case can be filed, which postpones the time when the automatic stay kicks in.
