former tenant declares bankruptcy

What is the name of your state? OHIO

A former tenant of mine moved out, owing me over $2400 in rent & damages. I ended up taking them to small claims court and the judge ruled in my favor. They signed a promissory note agreeing to pay $100 a month until the debt was paid. Just today, I got a notice from a different court, saying they are filing for bankruptcy.

The prior judgement I have against is part of their bankruptcy? Do I have any recourse to get my money? (Sounds like I'm screwed twice, huh? )

If the debt is discharged in the bk, you've no recourse. Until the bk is sorted out, the tenant is covered by an automatic stay against all collection activity. Don't make any attempt to collect.
