Question

Full Serv online filing??

What is the name of your state?
ILLINOIS:
I was wondering if anyone has used, or has any feedback on the Full Service online filing companies such as
  • Bridgeport
  • USA Bankruptcy Assoc
  • Easy Bankruptsy Services

I am unemployed and the lawyer I contacted wanted $1000 paid in full before he would file my BK.
Is the online thing a good route to go?
I am single, do not own a home, and my car was already repo'd.

Yes, I paid for Bridgeport and I am now filling everything out by hand as there were so many mistakes and they send it to you in pdf form that CANNOT be edited once they send it to you. Also once your 20 days run out there is NO WAY to contact them at all (they close your account) so the guarantee is USELESS! STAY AWAY!!

(I couldn't afford to do anything else after they ripped me off but download the docs and fill them out by hand.)

If you can get your case filed BEFORE 10/17 - You would be better off buying the Nolo Press book "How to File Chapter 7 Bankruptcy" and filling out the forms YOURSELF using the book.

However, the book is ONLY good if you file BEFORE 10/17. Once the new law goes into effect on that day, its a whole new ballgame with new rules and new forms.

I am not a lawyer or a member of the legal profession. My advice is based on research and experience, my own and others, some who practice law. You decide for yourself what actions you do or do not take from my advice.
