how do we clear off bankruptcy from being scammed?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? ohio
We had to file bankruptcy after one of my husbands friends talked us into maxing out all of our credit by buying up homes and he said he would manage the properties for us. What he did instead was keep the rent monies, and only pay us mortgage payments until he totally earned my husbands trust and got him to max out credit cards, too. Then- he quit sending us the money. We spent years going around that, trying to make triple, quadruple payments and going thru numerous credit 'help' agencies, until we finally gave up and filed bankruptcy. We were fortunate to have a good judge who was familiar with the con artist and our situation. He let us keep our personal home and personal debt which we've been working hard to take care of.
Now, it is 7 years, and I'm wondering what our next step is. How do we get the bankruptcy cleared from our records, what can we do to get our credit restored? And yes, our former 'friend' is still out there conning people in a neighboring county. It is awful. Somehow he is able to keep getting away with it.What do we do next? Thanks

Bankruptcies are on your credit report for 10 years from date of discharge. You still have 3 years to go.
