how long can they keep a chapter 7 open?

What is the name of your state? tx we filed a7 it was due to close in dec. we received acheck for a disester payment for 2000they reopened to try and get more checks. we may get more but have no ideal when or if we will .how long can it be kept open?if we lease our farm for 2003 can they take it?
