Incur dept during chapter 13

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? WA

We've been in a 5 year 100% repayment chapter 13 plan for 27 months now and need to purchase a newer vehicle and pay it outside of our plan. Our BK lawyer cautions us against this and does not like these type of request stating that 70% of the time a request like this results in the Trustee increasing the repayment amount. We've had a $3000 increase in our annual pay since we filed. Is he correct?

I would listen to your attorney. He is going to be more familiar with the typical actions of the trustees in your area. If he says there is a 70% chance your payments would be adjusted to consider the added income, I would tend to believe him.
