contact the credit bureau that refuses to remove the 7 yr and older report and tell them if they don't remove it immediately, you are going to file a complaint against them with the State Attorney Generals office in the state they are located in. Get tough****************************...been there...
quote:
Originally posted by hustler: I am from Michigan. I did a credit report on myself in January 2000. To my surprise i found that i had an outstanding bill on there from a hospital for 38.00 back in 1996. I checked my records and found that it had been paid the in Oct 1996. I sent a copy of the cancelled check to the hospital and the collection agency and proved it had been paid and for them to remove it off my credit report. Then on March 29, 2000 i received a letter from the Collection Agency that i owed another 527.37 to them for the same hospital... This was for back in Aug 1985. I know that i paid this bill.... I made payments to the hospital... Just like the 38.00 one it was applied to the wrong account probably..However**************. all my records have been destroyed for that far back and the hospital has purged all of theirs...... The Collection agency told my that they had a judgement on me. I called the District Court and they told me that yes there was a judgement and it was recorded on Oct 6, 1989 and it had expired. What can i do in this matter. I talked to a lawyer on the phone and he told my that i should write the Collection Agency a letter and tell them that it has expired and for them to remove it from my credit report and the bill is null and void... Even though i proved the 38.00 bill was paid they won't take that off. Number one it should have never been on my report...... I never knew anything about the one in 1985 until March of 2000....
Please help
