Land ownership & Ch 7 question

I am probably going to have to file bankruptcy soon. I am head over heels in credit card debt and I am making less than half of what I made 2 years ago.

Here is my question: I own a piece of land. No home on it. I have it on the market, hoping to sell it ad pay off my bills. But no bites on it yet. If I declare BK, do I have to give this land up?The land free and clear.

Homstead exemption in AZ is 100K, BUT, if there's no home on the land, its not a homestead, so its not going to make the exemption. I don't see any way for you to avoid losing it. You can't transfer it to anyone before you file, the Trustee would smell a rat in a heartbeat.

I suggest you get it sold first before you file.
