Length of time conversion of 13 to 7 has stayed on credit fileWhat is the name of your state? Alabama In 1990, I filed Ch 13 and four years later, after job loss, converted to Ch 7. It's 2003, 13 years later, and the Ch 7 still has a year left on my credit files at the major credit reporting agencies. Does this seem harse? In my mind, this problem started in 1990 and should not have stayed on my credit report for more than 10 years. Do you know of any laws that might exist for correcting situations like this? If not, I think there should be. At this point, I'm thinking of just honestly explaining the situation to the credit reporting agencies and see if they agree. My daughter was in pre-school at the time, now she's in college. Wow! I appreciate your response. Thanks, Bruce |

| Ch 7's stay on your credit report for 10 years from your filing date. It looks like they're using 10 years from the conversion date on yours. I'd have to dig around the FCRA to find out if conversions are, in fact, reported this way. What does it say on your credit report, what dates ?

datesThe date on the major three reporting agencies is 3/94 which is the filing date for the Ch 7. The original filing date for the Ch 13 was 8/90. Thank you for your reply! |
