Living abroad with $70,000 US credit card debt

Hi there,

I have taken out credit cards in the past and unfortunately have run up a debt of more than $70,000 and i can't pay it off now because of being unemployed. I am being harrassed by the credit card companies and i just want to know what are my options while living abroad. I know that the debts are unsecured and i own nothing in the USA so do i have to pay it off or it will it cause me problems. I mean will i be arressted if i enter the States or try to leave, and how bad will my credit file be affected and for how long. Is it also better to just file chapter 7. Please advise me of my best option even if there is other ones than the ones i mentioned.
