Question

I FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY IN 1998 AND THE CURRENT MORTGAGE COMPANY ACCEPTED THIS PROCESS. ANOTHER MORTGAGE COMPANY TOOK OVER THE MORTGAGE FROM MY SPOUSE AND BEGAN REPORTING ON MY CREDIT. MY ATTORNEY CALLED TO SAY I HAD FILED AND THAT MY PORTION OF THE DEBT WAS DISMISSED. I EVEN FILED A QUIT CLAIM DEED TO MY SPOUSE. WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE THEM REMOVE THIS INFORMATION? I EVEN FILED A DISPUTE WITH THE CREDIT BUREAU AND THE REPLY FROM THE MORTGAGE COMPANY WAS THAT THEY WOULD NOT REMOVE THIS FROM MY FILE.

Tell the lawyer who handled your bankruptcy for you and get his or her advice. The fact that you filed bankruptcy belongs in your file.
