new zealand student loan

could someone tell me, if i signed a binding contract with the goverment to receive a student loan, and in the contract it said i may be illegable to have an interest write off if i stay in new zealand for 183 days, and i was granted this.
and a new law comes in stating student loans will now accrue tax daily, am i legally exempt from this as i signed the agreement before the new law took affect and in the contract i signed i did not read anything stating that it can change at any time?
