notice of default and right to cure

What is the name of your state? kansas...filing chap 7 soon..received letter from one bank giving a current minimum balance due and a last date for paying this amount. if not they say they may exercise their rights under the law. Is this the same as a summons? or is this the last shot over the bow before they issue a summons?

summons are from a court, usually with an attached complaint and so on. a letter from a bank isn't a summons.
