notification of creditorsWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Maryland I filed for bankruptcy and gave my attorney all of my credit card statements. After I received my bankruptcy notification I still received bills from Macy's. I told my attorney and he told me just to ignore them. I sent Macy's a copy of bankruptcy notifcation myself but when I received my discharge it said Macy's address was invalid. My attorney said he took care of it for me, but I'm still afraid Macy's was not properly notified. When the courts originally sent bankruptcy notice wouldn't they have known Macy's address was not valid. I gave my attorney the correct and updated address when I filed. Do I need to worry that Macy's is going to sue me? |

| Macy's won't sue you since, they now know about the bk and it's a simple matter for you to reopen the bk and add them {if the address is inaccurate}. Look at your bk paperwork and see what addy is on the creditors matrix. If your lawyer used the wrong address it's his error and he should fix it. |

GaAttyAs long as you listed Macy's as a creditor in your bankruptcy they cannot sue you later. When a bankruptcy is filed, the filing itself is "notice to the world", and an individual creditor cannot proceed against the debtor by claiming that they did not receive notice. |
