ny tax assessmentWhat is the name of your state? ny I am retired and live in NY. Recently my bank account, about $500, was attached by NY State. This was the major part of my monthly SS retirement check This was from an old assessment that was based on a federal assessment that the federal government later dropped, but NY State didn’t. Some of my mail had been going to my wife’s house in NY during those years, but I had been living and working in New Jersey. The questions are: If I file bk, does the NY assessment still stand. Can they take my car (a 1991 car with 275,000 miles on it) ? |

| I suggest you talk to a BK attorney. The NY assessment is likely to be non-dischargable. Its UN-likely they'd want your old vehicle, the value is next to nothing - unless its a Rolls Royce !
