What is the name of your state? Nevada & Kansas
This is rather confusing. We filed bankruptcy in 2001 and listed our mortgage for a house in Kansas that we could not sell. We finally got a contract for deed on the home and it was filed with the bankruptcy court as part of the proceedings. We did not reaffirm the debt and have made no payments since the bankruptcy. All payments went from the person on the contract through a property manager to the mortgage company.
With only 3 years left on the contract. the buyer has defaulted. The house will go into foreclosure. My question is this: Since we never reaffirmed the debt, will our credit get ruined for another 7-10 years because the loan went into foreclosure?:(

Without a reaff, your liability for the mortgage was discharged with your bankruptcy. It in no way should even TOUCH your credit reports now. There can be no negative reporting on a discharged debt.
