Power of Attorney Rejection I'm from New York and went thru Chapter 7 in 96. A credit union challanged my debt which I agreed to repay. I discovered that I had disability ins from 3 years earlier which I claimed (I lost 18 months of work after being hurt). The credit union lawyer took over the claim, paid off the credit union, took his fee and I even got what was left.
I went to the credit union recently and gave them a updated power of attorney which includes myself and one of my siblings. They would not let me become a joint owner nor would they honor the power of attorney for my name but would for my sibling. This is a savings act which is less than 5g. The reason for the changes is that my mother is very ill and the tax lawyer advised me to be a co-owner of the act. It seems that this is illegal by not accepting a lawyer drawn power of attorney and are using the stigma of bankruptcy against me. I left there owing them not one cent
