property taxes and chapter 7

What is the name of your state? West Virginia
If a person files chapter 7 and retains some of their property, are they responsible for the property taxes that were due during the time they were in chapter 7. Are they responsible for paying the taxes once the case is closed or is this debt wiped out.

If you still own the property then you still have to pay the property taxes.

From the Nolo book on Ch 7:

"Property taxes aren't dischargeable unless they became due more than a year before you filed and the taxing authority hasn't assessed your liability within the previous 240 days. But even if your personal liability for paying the property tax out of your pocket is discharged, the tax lien on your property is unaffected."
