| Purchasing a home from a BK person What is the name of your state? Florida
My sister signed a Purchase & Sales agreement for a home in Florida. One week prior to the close the seller declared bankruptcy -- I believe it is Chapter 13 (but am not 100%).
The owner and real estate broker believe they have cleared up everything and are "ready to close on the property". I spoke with the title company and they are requiring a document from the court that states that the waiting period (30 days) has expired and that all debts have been discharged and there are no further objections or liens on file.
There is a mortage on the home and from what we can tell there is plenty of equity to be made by the owner. The property is not in foreclosure.
Has anyone had a similar experience and is there any "gotchas" that my sister should be aware of?
