Quick question before I file

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Oregon

I am filing bankruptcy later this week. My question relates to taxes and a tax lien. I understand that taxes over two years old may be included in my bankruptcy and discharged. I have a tax lien filed in February of 2002 for which they have garnished my wages for the past couple of years. Since this was over two years ago can I include it and would it stop the wage garnishment?

Also I am on checkrite systems for a check that my previous employer wrote me and then stopped payment on (I am not a complete deadbeat) does a bankruptcy change anything about checkrite systems? The actual monetary amount went to collections and that will be included.

Thanks in advance for any help. This is a great forum that has been helpful for many people.

Federal Taxes and Lien

If the lien was filed in 2/02 it was probably for taxes owed for 2001 or before. If that's the case AND you filed timely returns for 2001 and before (meaning by 4/15 of the next year plus extensions), you should be able to include those taxes in your BK7 and have them discharged.

Don't know about checkrite. sorry.
