Question

Reaffirmation Agreement Meeting

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Maine

I filed chapter 7 in July. So far everything seems to be going fine. I received paperwork that my case will be discharged. I do not have an attorney. I have a car loan through GMAC and I signed the reaffirmation agreement, but I have been having some trouble making the payments on the car, so it is a little behind. I received a letter that I have to go to a meeting at the court regarding the reaffirmation agreement. I am just wondering what is going to take place at this meeting and what sort of questions I will be asked. I am also wondering what will happen if I am still behind some when I go to the meeting? Any advice or knowledge on this subject would be fantastic and greatly appreciated! Thanks

A judge will decide if it's in your best interest to reaffirm. If you're struggling to make the payment post bk, you need to recind the reaffirmation.
