Question

selling property

I live in michigan my husband and I are filing chapter 7 bankruptcy and have a buyer for our house. After the mortgage is paid off who is intitled to the remaining money? The trustee or us.
My attorney has told me anything up to $33,000 we can keep but the title company said the remaining is given to the trustee. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Are you current on your mortgage? Would reaffirming the mortgage be an option and then after the bk is discharged, sell the house?
