What is the name of your state? VIRGINIA

I was told that I can't use both state and federal exemption laws to exempt assets. Is this true for Virginia?
Would I have to use federal to exempt my IRA account since the Supreme Court ruled last spring that they are exempt from creditors in bankruptcy but this law is not listed in the list of Virginia exemption laws that can be used?
